Description
Stanozolol is a synthetic anabolic steroid derived from dihydrotestosterone. It is used both medically and illicitly for its performance-enhancing effects. Stanozolol is well-known in both therapeutic settings for treating hereditary angioedema and in the athletic community for boosting muscle growth, strength, and endurance.
Common Dosages:
Oral tablets typically come in 2 mg, 5 mg, and 10 mg concentrations. The injectable form is commonly available in 50 mg/mL concentration.
Indications:
- Medical Use: Stanozolol is prescribed for the treatment of hereditary angioedema, which causes episodes of swelling in the face, extremities, genitals, bowel wall, and throat.
- Non-medical Use: Used illicitly by athletes and bodybuilders to improve muscle mass, strength, and physical performance.
Mechanism of Action:
Stanozolol works by influencing protein synthesis and increasing nitrogen retention in muscle tissue. This leads to increased muscle growth and strength. It also does not convert into estrogen, which is a common issue with other anabolic steroids, reducing the risk of side effects like gynecomastia.
